A new season has arrived in Animal Crossing New Horizons. New seasonal materials and special crafting DIY recipes are now obtainable.
Special spooky outfits and accessories can also be found inside of the Able Sisters’ shop during the month of October, such as the popular Mage outfits.
Pine Cones
Pine cones can be gathered as materials needed to craft several autumn DIY recipes, from Bonsai Trees to Pile of Leaves to Arches. Pine Cones can be easily obtained by shaking the trees on your island during September, October, and November for the Northern Hemisphere or March, April, and May for the Southern Hemisphere. You’ll want to shake tall cedar trees to find Pine Cones.
Acorns
Go nuts! Collect acorns to craft items such as the Acorn Pochette, Traditional Balancing Toy, Tree’s Bounty tree, Tree’s Mobile, and the yellow Leaf Pile! Acorns are available for three months, from September 1 to December 10. You’ll want to shake normal hardwood trees to get Acorns.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins can be grown on the island. You can buying the “starts” from Leif when he visits or inside Nook’s Cranny. Pumpkins can appear in orange, green, and white colors.
Say hello to your island’s residents to receive special spooky Halloween DIY recipes. Use the pumpkins you grow to craft them!
Planting your pumpkin starts is the same as any flower or shrub. You can either stand over an empty ground spot, or dig a hole first with your shovel. Then open your inventory and select pumpkin starts to plant.
Once you’ve planted them, you’ll need to water your pumpkins every day over the course of four days for them to reach maturity. If you water them every day, you’ll guarantee yourself more pumpkins per start by the end of the four day period.
Mushrooms
To find and collect Mushrooms in Animal Crossing: New Horizons naturally, you’ll need to be playing during the month of May in the Southern Hemisphere or the month of November in the Northern Hemisphere.
Five different types of Mushroom items can be found to hunt down during the month and they are found in different locations depending on the type — here’s a complete list of all Mushrooms below including sell prices:
Mushroom Name
Flat Mushroom
Round Mushroom
Skinny Mushroom
Elegant Mushroom
Rare Mushroom
Sell Price
200 Bells
200 Bells
300 Bells
10,000 Bells
16,000 Bells
Unlike the other types of Mushrooms that can be found plainly visible on the ground near your trees, the Rare Mushrooms are hidden out of sight. You can find them buried in the ground around trees marked by X star spots, just like Fossils! If you spot one, simply take out your Shovel and dig it up.
Want to craft the entire Mush set of items with Mushrooms? Check out the handy table below, you can find a complete summary of how many Mushrooms and other crafting materials are needed to craft every single mushroom item.
Mushroom DIY recipes can be collected by popping the balloons that fly over your island. They can be rather hard to find so pop as many balloons as you can during this month.
Brewster
I have a theory that a fall update will come around the end of September, because the first day of fall is September 22nd and that update will have Brewster because National Coffee Day is September 29th.
